On November 14, the Shanghai-based Chen Bochui Foundation presented its annual awards in children’s literature–China’s oldest–at the Boashan International Folk Arts Exhibition Center, Shanghai. This year, Leonard became the first American to win the coveted award for “special contributions to the development of Chinese children’s literature.” He shared the award with China’s beloved author and translator Ren Rongrong.
