Lesléa Newman joins Leonard via Zoom to discuss his new collection of wide-ranging interviews on the urgent and timely topic of censorship in books for young readers. What exactly is censorship? What forms may it take? And what happens when freedom of expression comes under threat? How do efforts to challenge and ban books affect their authors, the librarians and teachers who stand up for the books, the communities they serve, and ultimately young people themselves? How well are we as a society able to cope with efforts to limit our access to books and the information and opinions expressed in them? Expect a lively discussion! Free and open to all. Click on “Learn More” for free registration and Zoom link.
